Belonging & Equality at Pilton

1618677305023

Chosen by our students, our school values of Responsibility, Resilience, Kindness, Courage, Trust and Respect underpin everything that we do at Pilton and embody our commitment to creating confident, motivated and ambitious learners. We aim to help each student to be the best version of themselves in an environment where everyone is safe, welcomed, treated equally and knows they belong, no matter who they are.

As a school, we take our lead from the Equality Act 2010 which aims to prevent any discrimination based upon nine Protected Characteristics. These characteristics include age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. We are committed to teaching and pastoral care which ensures that all students have equal access to opportunities and resources.

Belonging & Equality Objectives

  • to narrow the gap in attainment between groups of children
  • to narrow the gap in attendance between groups of children
  • to improve our knowledge, skills and attitudes for living well in a diverse community, for example increasing understanding between students of different religions and beliefs
  • to monitor and analyse incidents of bullying, prejudice and racism and to continue to pass such data on to the local authority
