Our Year 7 and 8 students from our Gateway provision, enjoyed a fantastic visit to RHS Garden Rosemoor yesterday, as they took part in the first of their workshops this academic year.
As part of their Outdoor Learning programme, the group visits Rosemoor each half term for interactive sessions designed to complement and support the learning they are doing back at school.
This time, the students became flower detectives! They dissected a flower, used magnifying glasses to identify its different parts and discovered more about how flowers are structured.
The group also headed into the orchard for an apple scavenger hunt! Students then selected an apple for everyone to taste test – with a rather unexpected winner… a sour cider apple!
A brilliant day of hands-on learning, exploration and discovery.
