At Pilton, we believe that homework plays an important role in helping students develop the knowledge, skills and independence needed to achieve their full potential. Regular completion of homework reinforces learning from lessons, encourages good study habits and helps students become more confident and responsible learners.
To ensure consistency across the school, we have introduced a clear homework policy. This booklet outlines the homework students can expect from each subject, when it will be set, and the expectations for its completion. It also explains the sanctions that will be applied when homework is not completed. These expectations are in place to support students in developing positive routines and taking responsibility for their learning.
We recognise that students may sometimes need support in completing their homework. To help with this, our Homework Club runs every day after school in our wonderful new library, providing a quiet, supervised space where students can access resources and receive guidance from staff.
In addition, we offer a dedicated Homework Club for students with additional needs. This takes place Monday to Thursday in G6 for one hour after school, providing targeted support in a smaller and more structured environment. We encourage parents and carers to take an active interest in their child's homework and to use this booklet as a guide to the expectations and support available. By working together, we can help ensure that every student develops the habits and resilience needed for success both in school and beyond.
