Last week Pilton attended the Schools Bouldering Competition at The Pocket in Bideford. Our team of climbers showed lots of determination and persistence, completing so many of their routes to secure Pilton 2nd place in the team competition!
Each climber attempted nine bouldering problems, scoring 10 points if they flashed a route (completed it on their first attempt), 7 points for completing on their second attempt and 4 points if completing on their third attempt. Christina came 3rd and Sophie 6th in the mixed 15-18 years category, where they did amazingly well climbing against 18 year old males. In the 11-14years category, Isla Bater was one of 5 climbers to be tied in 2nd place at the end of the 9 boulder problems so therefore took part in an exciting "climb off" on a difficult climb to separate climbers based on how high up the climb they reached. Isla finished joint 4th, again competing against boys in this mixed category. Alex finished joint 5th with 77 points, Leah 6th with 74 points and lots of Pilton climbers were tied in joint 8th place with 70 points.
Thank you to The Pocket for hosting a great event and giving all our climbers vouchers for a free climb along with their certificates!
