We were well represented at the recent Inter-Schools Climbing Competition at Rock and Rapid, with no fewer than 22 Pilton climbers taking part.
The climbers put their skills to the test with four top rope climbs on the main wall, where they score points for their school based on how high up the climb they got. The top rope section culminated in racing up a speed climb as fast as they could, where they were ranked based on their time.
In the bouldering room they attempted four boulder problems with a 90 second time limit, again scoring points based on how much of the problem they completed on their best attempt.
All our climbers gave their best effort and didn't give up when faced with some challenging climbs. The climbing centre was full, with large numbers of competitors in the younger age categories and Pilton ranked top fifth in the final standings.
Congralutions to Isla who finished 3rd in the Years 10-13 Girls competition, with Christina following closely in 5th place and Leah in 7th. Matthew finished 6th in the Year 7-9 Boys category with Alex coming in 11th place and Bruno in 14th. In the Year 7-9 Girls competition Edie finished 18th, April 19th and Flora 21st.
