Intrepid Rugby Girls

Dec 01, 2025

Last week, an intrepid group of Year 7s attended a girls rugby development day at Bideford Rugby Club.

They started the day playing touch rugby, before learning how to fall to the floor safely when tackled. The coaches then talked everyone through how to tackle safely and each team practised this among themselves with Pilton students growing more confident with every tackle. After lunch, the students put their newly found skills into practice as all the schools played each other in friendly matches. The Pilton girls shone, working hard to support their teammates, challenging themselves to tackle players running at full pace and being respectful towards the opposition.

Congratulations to Ellie-Mae who won the TREDS (Teamwork, Resilience, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship) award for Pilton. If any other Year 7 girls are interested in playing rugby please speak with Miss Fishleigh in the PE office.
