Ocean Explorers at Croyde

Apr 24, 2024

Thanks to Libby and the Croyde Beach rangers for making the Ocean Explorers trip to Croyde such a great success yesterday. Students began the day hunting for mermaids' purses and identifying which skate they came from. They then pulled recycled Christmas trees across the beach to a large sand dune which is eroding due to the marram grass being damaged by people trampling and body boarding down the dunes. The trees are being planted in rows across the dune to catch the sand and stop it spreading back towards Croyde village.

The weather was kind and the students worked so hard. A great afternoon was had by all. Next week, the group will be venturing into the dunes to find out what animals live there and how they are adapting to climate change.
