Reading & Literacy at Pilton

We are passionate about reading and literacy at Pilton; we understand the power great reading and literacy has to transform lives.  For this reason, we're committed to improving every student's reading skills, regardless of their starting point. 

In 2021-2022, students in receipt of Lexia intervention made, on average, the following progress in their reading ages from January-July:

  • Year 9:  on average, the students have made 1 year and 1 month of progress from their starting points.
  • Year 8: on average, the students have made 1 year and 1 month of progress from their starting points.
  • Year 7: on average, the students have made 1 year progress from their starting points.

Students in receipt of the National Tutoring Literacy intervention made the following progress in their reading ages from April-July:

  • On average, the whole cohort made one year and two months of progress from their starting point.
  • 80% of the students made progress.
