Launch of new CAIRB

Oct 19, 2025

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Communication and Interaction Resource Base (CAIRB), a facility designed to support children with complex communication needs, enabling them to access mainstream learning at Pilton Community College.  We have been working hard behind the scenes to secure funding from Devon County Council in order to increase the capacity of our base and to improve the provision we offer to young people.

The Communication and Interaction Resource Base will continue to serve as a dedicated space for children with a range of communication difficulties, including autism, speech and language delays, and other complex needs. The aim of the resource base is to provide these children with personalised education, strategies for improving communication, developing life skills and providing a nurturing environment where they can thrive and achieve their full potential.  The base will also continue to focus on inclusion, awareness and understanding within the wider school community, helping to support our neurodiverse community through their secondary education.

We will be holding a formal launch and grand opening event for education professionals and stake holders on Wednesday 15th October 2025 at 2.30pm and from 3.10pm onwards for parents, carers and families with a connection to the CAIRB.  This will be to celebrate the new facility and our school’s inclusive approach to supporting and empowering young people in their journey through secondary education.
