As part of the Appledore Book Festival, all four of our Year 10 Art groups enjoyed taking part in a creative illustration workshop, led by visiting author and illustrator, Joseph Witchall. Joseph brought a portfolio of his work as inspiration and students began illustrating a children’s book focused on the theme of the destruction of our natural world. Their brief was to create engaging characters and narratives that could help communicate the serious issue of destruction of our environment to a younger audience.
The event was a brilliant opportunity to combine creativity with social responsibility, and we’re proud of the thoughtful and artistic responses from all involved. The photos show some of Joseph's illustrations and the fantastic early work produced by the Year 10s, as they developed imaginative characters and compelling visual storytelling techniques to bring their environmental message to life.
