  • You can sign up to Barnstaple Library here to download free audio books and e books with their Libby app.

  • Join Mrs New in our English team and listen to her read a chapter or two a day of the chosen book. Find the Google Classroom code to join in on Class Charts. Don’t worry if you’ve not joined yet - all the chapters are uploaded as videos to watch, so you can easily catch up. Mrs New also adds additional optional tasks to get involved with and you can win house points by taking part.

  • Follow @NewWritingNorth on Twitter and join in their weekly write each Wednesday when they post a creative writing stimulus for you to use. Their website is interesting too.

  • If you love Harry Potter, look here for all sorts of wizard activities. 

  • If you love David Walliams, he is releasing a short story everyday through his website .

  • If you love theatre or if it’s something you’ve not experienced yet, the National Theatre is releasing a show for 7 days on YouTube here.

  • Visit the Royal Shakespeare Company's website to watch a range of Shakespeare plays for free.


  • Follow Ed Vere @ed_vere on Twitter or via his website  Every Wednesday and Friday morning he is releasing short ‘how to’ videos on his website of children’s book characters

  • The Tate Gallery has lots of creative ideas. Visit the ‘Get Creative’ section to be inspired. You can also virtually tour some of the galleries whilst they are shut to the public




  • PE with Joe Wicks is on every day at 9 a.m. and also stays up afterwards on his YouTube channel 

  • Learn a Dance Routine with Oti Mabuse - free on her YouTube channel



  • Follow this link from the Royal Society for lots of videos and ideas about current issues in Science, Maths and Computing

  • The Science Museum has a range of activities that can be done at home, along with some games and apps.




  • The Royal Geographical Society at home has lots of different Geography tasks that can be completed at home.

  • Watch Horrible History videos here.

  • National Geographic have short ‘101’ videos on a range of topics on their You Tube channel here.

  • GCSE Geography Students should tune into Dr Bowden’s You Tube show on a Friday! (Dr B TV)

  • Using Google you can have a virtual tour of different relics across the world with The British Museum

  • The BBC has collated a range of live feed videos here to give viewers the chance to see a variety of places across the world.
