Last Thursday, thirty Year 8 and 9 students took part in a day of writing workshops linked to the George Orwell Youth Prize competition. They were joined in the library by the prize Director, Michael Callanan and the poet Matt Bryden, who guided them through a series of warm-up activities before they began to write their entries.
This year, the title of the prize is: Coming Up For Air: Writing the Climate Crisis. Students from Years 8-11 can submit writing in a variety of forms such as poetry, essays, stories, scripts, speeches and Game Design.
We look forward to reading some of their work and seeing it submitted to the prize via this link.
The deadline for asking the prize for feedback for drafts is 22nd April and the final deadline is 3rd June. Good luck everyone!
