Facilities and grounds

Situated in a residential area on the outskirts of Barnstaple, our school is ideally located within walking distance of the town centre and the bus station and with easy access to public transport. We're only a few miles from the Atlantic coast beaches and twelve miles from an area of outstanding scenic beauty in the Exmoor National Park

A cycle path and pedestrian walkway crosses our land and links the Tarka Trail and Braunton Road with Abbey Road and Chaddiford Lane, providing a safe route into school for students.

The original school was opened in 1964 and has since been extended considerably.  A state-of-the-art Maths block and a Science suite have been in built in recent years and original buildings have been modernised to ensure our accommodation is fit for purpose.

We are fortunate in having storage for a fleet of twenty mountain bikes which are used extensively by the PE Department for students who learn to ride using the Tarka Trail.

Our specialist accommodation includes:

  • a dance studio, together with a large drama hall which boasts the third largest stage in North Devon.
